About Lara
I’ve always loved English Literature, especially the parts that give you something to argue about! At school, I placed in the top percentile for American Literature and Shakespeare & Classics. I’m a big believer that you don’t have to be naturally “good” at English to enjoy it or do well. Sometimes you just need someone to explain it in a different way. I’m friendly, patient and easy to talk to, and I like creating a space where students can ask questions, think out loud and build confidence without feeling judged.

I like to keep lessons relaxed but focused. I’ll usually start by going over what the student is working on and where they’re getting stuck, then we’ll work through it together rather than me just explaining everything. I use questions, examples and practice exercises to help students work things out for themselves, and I’ll give clear feedback on essays and written work. Every lesson is slightly different depending on the student, but my main aim is for them to leave feeling more confident than when they started. I always finish the lesson by revising what was previously looked at to make sure my students remember what we did.
