About Peter
I received a PhD in physics in 2015, have over a decade of experience as a research scientist in astronomy, and from 2024 to early 2026 was a Senior Lecturer in Data Science at a UK university. I have taught cohorts of over 300 students in classroom settings and mentored over 30 students individually or in small groups. I enjoy teaching and, having moved back to Australia in early 2026, am looking to continue teaching in small group settings.

In one-to-one or small-group settings, I emphasize helping you build your ability to teach yourself, through a mixture of Inquiry-based and Socratic teaching styles and hands-on practice. I encourage you to bring problems which we can break down to build the techniques you need to solve them, but I will never give you the answers - instead, we will be learning to find them together.
I have experience teaching and tutoring at University level in the UK, and my lessons are aimed at University students and adult learners. Whether you are looking for support with coursework or to learn new skills I'm happy to help with sessions of 1 hour or longer.
