About Randy
I am a chemist and I love math and science. I am always looking for ways to make the subjects fun for my students. I understand that not every student learns the material in the same way. If one way doesn't make sense, then we can work together to find a way that works for you.
I have taught, tutored, and coached students from as young as 8 years old up to senior citizens. The fun part for me is finding unique ways to help each student understand and apply the material. As much as I love seeing students get the right answer, I take more joy in seeing them understand concepts so they can be successful in the long term. I am not only invested in your grade, I am invested in you as a person.

I love math and science and I am always looking for ways to make the subjects fun for my students. I understand that not every student learns the material in the same way. If one way doesn't make sense, then we can work together to find a way that works for you.
I am invested in your success, but I expect the same level of investment from the parents and students I work with. What you get out of a tutoring session will depend on what you put in. I expect students to be prepared with questions and/or homework so that we can make the most of our time together. I find it helpful to know what concepts my students are working on at least a day before beginning sessions so that I can have time to prepare and review before we meet.
When tutoring, my students are required to show all their work. It helps me see your thought process as you work through problems. It also helps with identifying where errors occur so that we can work on improving your skills when troubleshooting and problem-solving. I do not want you to just get an answer I want you to understand how you got an answer so that you can apply it in your classes and beyond.
I usually tutor math/science from 5-10th grades, but can also do elementary levels as well. High school subjects include Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Chemistry, and some Physics and Biology.
I will not take on clients that expect their students to learn a semester's worth of work in a one to two-week period. This is not enough time to build a foundation for the material and results cannot be guaranteed.
