About Hannah
I am an honors student at Vanderbilt University majoring in Medicine, Health, and Society, and Psychology with a strong academic foundation and extensive tutoring experience. Throughout my time at Vanderbilt, I have served as an official university tutor, helping fellow students excel in challenging coursework. My tutoring journey began during high school, where I discovered my passion for helping others understand complex concepts and build academic confidence. I am a STEM nerd and have a strong background in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Algebra (1 and 2), SAT math (received a 770 on the math section), Precalculus, and Calculus. My tutoring approach centers on active learning through the "teach-back" method. After I explain a concept thoroughly, I shift the focus to you, the student becomes the teacher. You'll explain the material back to me in your own words, work through problems aloud, and engage in continuous practice until the concept clicks. This method transforms passive listening into active understanding.
Having been on both sides of the tutoring relationship gives me unique insight into what truly helps students succeed. I've experienced firsthand that students retain information best when they can articulate and apply concepts independently, rather than simply following along with explanations.
I specialize in middle school and high school mathematics, SAT preparation, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry (which is my favorite). My goal isn't just to help you get the right answers, but to build your confidence and develop your problem-solving intuition so you can tackle new challenges independently.
Whether you're struggling with foundational concepts or pushing toward advanced material, we'll work together to ensure you truly understand, not just memorize, the subject matter.
