About Bim
I’ve been working as a professional jazz musician for over 10 years, performing across the UK, Ireland and Europe. I’ve had the chance to play with musicians including Adrian Cox, Lucy-Anne Daniels, Mark Nightingale, David Newton and Alan Barnes, and at venues and festivals such as The Jazz Café, Band on the Wall, Manchester Jazz Festival and Buxton International Festival. I’ve also supported international artists including the Emmet Cohen Trio and Keyon Harrold.
Alongside performing, I’ve taught guitar privately for the past 10 years and have been teaching guitar at Xaverian College for the last two years.
My aim as a teacher is to help students become confident, well-rounded musicians, while sharing the practical knowledge I’ve picked up from working as a professional musician.

My lessons are tailored to each student. I will ask what the student's goals are and what issues they currently face in their playing. I like to teach through pieces, so exercises will be based around songs. We will look at the melody, harmony and form of a song, and how it is functioning. This approach allows you to learn about harmony and technique within the context of a song.
