About Simon
Hi! I'm Simon, a recent McGill grad, taking a gap year before pursuing music education full time. I grew up as a classically trained, competitive pianist with 14 years of training. For the past six years, I've worked as a gigging musician and part-time educator, performing jazz, accompanying, and (my favorite), teaching!

Lesson structure will vary based on your age and goals! Lessons for children involve a mix of engaging games and technical exercises, with a mix of easier, short-term songs and longer projects to keep the learning fun and motivating. Jazz lessons will involve lots of improv exercises––the only way to learn is by doing! In all lessons, I aim to demystify music theory, and see it not as an end-all, but as a tool to help us understand and enjoy music more thoroughly. I'm all about relentless curiosity, especially with music! I have experience teaching as young as 5, up through senior adults, as well as people with disabilities. Learning is for everyone.
