About Alexandria
Hello! My name is Alexandria. I am a big psychology statistics and research nerd with a passion for teaching others.
In 2024/2025, I was professionally tutoring stats at Douglas College. In 2025/2026, I finished both levels of theoretical psychology statistics at Simon Fraser University and have continued on into a directed studies course in theoretical psychology statistics with the same professor.
I want to understand why we do things in psychology, why we use statistics for specific research designs, and my goal is to help make learning the basics relatable to your interests so you can get through your coursework and pass exams.

I take your professor's course material and help make it understandable and relatable for you. No matter their notation, I can offer multiple approaches or perspectives until something clicks in your own learning style.
Many of my students come back weekly or bi-weekly and we work through assignments together, going over lecture notes and then practicing concepts until students feel confident with material.
I also help with review and exam prep if you are panicking and feel like the world is ending. It's okay to cry! University is tough and so are you. If you cry in my session (and I promise you are not the first or the last, so don't feel bad about it), I will always give you the pep talk you need so you can face the content bravely. :)
My approach is to find something relevant to you (usually some form of media, friends, or a related research interest) and make examples from it until you are able to do it on your own easily. Once content feels relevant to your life and interests, it tends to stick better than simply trying to memorize words and equations without paired associations.

Alexandria is reliable, honest and hardworking — all qualities that make her an exceptional tutor. As her peer, I’ve had the privilege of interacting with her in multiple roles, including as her student. She approaches tutoring sessions the same way she approaches her personal academic journey, with grace, curiosity, and humility. One of the qualities I value most in a tutor is the willingness to acknowledge their limitations and engage in mutual learning. Alexandria truly embodies this mindset. She understands that learning is a continual process — even for the most experienced — and she rises to every challenge with curiosity and thoughtfulness. When faced with complex concepts or assignments, she takes the time to deeply understand the material, investing her time into becoming as knowledgeable on the topic as possible. This allows her to easily explain concepts in a way that’s clear, accessible, and easy to digest.
What truly sets Alexandria apart is her ability to help you recognize your own strengths, even when you are struggling. She never makes you feel inadequate. Instead, she empowers you to draw from your own strengths, using them as a base for growth. Her patience, reassurance, and encouragement motivated me to put in the work to achieve my academic goals even when I felt stuck.
If you are looking for a tutor who genuinely wants you to succeed and understands that success looks different for everyone, I can’t recommend Alexandria enough. She meets you where you’re at, celebrates your progress — no matter how small it may feel to you — and tailors her support to what YOU need, rather than applying a one-size-fits- all approach. We were in 2 Psychology classes together during our 3rd year. When we were studying together for the exams, she made her own questions based off of the lecture slides from class, which also helped me understand the concepts better instead of only reading. Whenever I was confused about a topic, I would ask her to clarify it, and she would be able to explain it back to me in a way that made sense. This helped me pass the 2 classes we were in. She is also in the Psychology Honours program, which would've required a high GPA and conducting her own research. I'm confident that if you are stuck on specific concepts that relate to her interest, not only will she do her best to help you, but she will also provide strategies on how to retain that information and apply it to future assignments or exams!
