About Riley

A UTD CS alumnus, I’ve spent eight years alternating between senior software engineer roles at local startups and private tutoring. I co-organize the “Dallas Dev Meetup,” where I lead workshops on full-stack development and careers in tech. My approach combines hands-on coding labs, collaborative code reviews, and career guidance—resume help, interview tips, and portfolio building—so that students become confident developers ready for professional opportunities.

We start with Python—data manipulation, OOP, libraries like Pandas/NumPy—and then build AI pipelines: dataset cleaning, model training in scikit-learn and Keras, and evaluation with real-world data. Next, we master SQL: normalization, indexing, advanced queries, and performance tuning with MySQL. We then explore Java: OOP principles, concurrency, and Spring Boot microservices. Finally, we tackle JavaScript: ES6 syntax, asynchronous operations, and modern frameworks (React, Node.js). Each session is centered around project work—constructing data-driven APIs, deploying ML models, or building dynamic single-page apps—emphasizing Git workflows, unit tests, and continuous integration.
