About Thembinkosi
Mr Gatawa is an experienced mathematics teacher who taught year 7, 8 and 9 in South Africa for 12 years. I have worked with learners of different learning abilities. I would like to teach because I believe I was born to teach maths, I would like to take part in improving maths and science results in the UK. I am patient with learners and I am a person with good interpersonal skills. I like helping people , naturally and I am a results-driven person who can go an extra mile in as far as achieving learning outcomes is concerned. My critical thinking and problem solving skills helped me pass mathematics and am willing and able to incalccate these skills and attributes to my learners.

I do not show learners how to solve problems because they might forget. I I ask probing questions in order to guide learners to discover their own constructive methods of problem solving. I assist learners identify the gaps in their understanding and provide scaffolding for them to iron out any misconceptions , if any.
I don’t not believe in a one -size fits all approach. I assess and get to understand the learning style of each learner so as to use the style in which the learner learns best. I therefore cater for visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners. I believe every learner can achieve the learning outcomes although at different paces. That’s my teaching philosophy.
