About Andrea

Although I have been cooking professionally for 18 years, I started cooking at age 8 and baking from age 14 and I haven’t stopped since then. In my early career, I worked in resorts, lodges and guest houses in Head Chef positions. Later in my career, I pivoted to training, coaching and consultative roles in corporates within the FMCG and Retail Industries. I am currently self-employed and offer consultation services to food service operations, cooking lessons and private chef services.

About the lesson

I tailor lessons to your desired outcome and proficiency level ensuring that you learn what you want to learn. I have trained and coached learners in different sectors and skills levels for more than 10 years, in classrooms and on-the-job in kitchens. I am very patient and strive to ensure that my learners achieve their goals. Learners often compliment my teaching style. I have experience teaching about kitchen basics, food safety, cooking techniques, baking techniques, specific recipes, recipe costing and meal prep. I have taught a wide age group or people from children to adults over 60. So, whether you’re an amateur or a professional, I am the tutor for you.

Andrea is a good teacher in that when training she starts from the known to the unknown. She makes examples in a way that one can easily see correlation. When she has taught me she encouraged me to ask questions and is happy to repeat areas that are a bit difficult. She always stresses attention to detail in measuring ingredients and keeps her language simple. When she demonstrates something she plans well and appears to be flexible in adapting her lessons to simply and encourage. I know Andrea all her life and I think people will remember her teaching because she backs it up with good examples.
