About Emma
Originally from Belfast, I moved to Manchester to complete my degree in Psychology in 2014. After this I underwent my teacher training and have worked as a full time Psychology and Sociology teacher since. Having achieved A’s in both my Psychology and Sociology A levels, studying a BSc in Psychology at university and subsequently qualifying to teach both subjects, I have an in depth understanding of the A level curriculum, how best to deliver the content and the requirements and skills needed to achieve the highest grade possible. I have also been trained to mark by AQA examiners so can give highly accurate grades and feedback.

One thing I strongly believe is that all children should be able to access the curriculum in the same way, regardless of background or needs. My approach to teaching is based on trying to develop resilient and independent learners who are confident in their own abilities. I strive to help students develop a toolkit of skills that they need to reach their full potential, whilst also ensuring that lessons are pupil lead with the focus being on utilising these skills in a practical manner and providing support and feedback.
I also know that learning is most effective when it is enjoyable and so I also strive to deliver sessions that are fun interesting, and relevant to lived experience.
