About Tristan
Hello, my name is Tristan. I recently completed IB Higher Level (HL) Economics and am dedicated to helping high school students master economics, build academic confidence, and achieve their target grades. Economics has always been a deep fascination of mine. I am captivated by the “why” and “how” behind global economic decisions and their real-world implications, particularly within energy economics, a field I plan to pursue at degree level. Alongside this, I am preparing to embark on my lifelong dream of attending flight school this January to begin a career in aviation. This background has taught me discipline, structured thinking, and a logical approach to problem-solving, which I bring into my tutoring. Throughout Grade 11 and Grade 12, I maintained a consistent 6 average in HL Economics. Because I have recently completed the same curriculum and assessment framework that many of my students are working through, I understand the demands of the course, the exam environment, and the areas where students commonly lose marks. My Approach & Teaching Methodology My tutoring approach is professional, highly diagnostic, and focused on measurable improvement. I do not rely on passive, one-sided lectures. Instead, I focus on identifying exactly where a student is struggling and then targeting those areas directly. Diagnostic Review: We can analyze past papers, essays, and homework to identify exactly where marks are being lost—whether through incomplete diagrams, incorrectly applied theories, weak analysis, or insufficient evaluation. Custom Practice Materials: I create focused practice exercises based on each student’s specific weaknesses, allowing us to spend time improving the areas that will have the greatest impact on their performance. Clear Conceptual Breakdown: I explain complex microeconomic and macroeconomic theories in clear, logical language, focusing on understanding the underlying economic intuition rather than simply memorizing definitions. Lesson Structure & Logistics Target Audience: My lessons are designed primarily for Grade 11 and Grade 12 students, including IB Economics SL/HL students, as well as high school students looking to build a strong foundation in economics. 100% Online Delivery: All sessions are conducted online, providing maximum flexibility while maintaining a focused and professional learning environment. Lesson Length: Standard sessions are 60 minutes. This provides enough time to work through a challenging concept, analyze exam questions or past papers, and establish concrete steps for improvement. Lesson structure can also be adapted around upcoming tests, examinations, or specific academic goals. I take pride in providing an organized, reliable, and supportive learning environment. My goal is not simply to help students memorize economics, but to help them understand how and why it works so that they can approach unfamiliar questions with confidence. Hey, I’m Tristan! I recently completed IB Higher Level (HL) Economics and completely understand the high school grind. My lessons are designed for Grade 11 and Grade 12 students, including IB Economics SL/HL students, as well as anyone looking to build a strong foundation in general economics. Whether you are struggling with complex graphs, finding evaluation difficult, losing marks on data-response questions, or simply trying to improve your grade before your next examination, I can help you identify the problem and work on it directly. Lesson Format & Structure 100% Online: All lessons are conducted online, allowing you to learn from home without the time and inconvenience of commuting. Flexible Structure: Standard lessons are 60 minutes, giving us enough time to break down a difficult topic, work through exam-style questions, or review a practice paper without rushing. However, lessons can be adapted around your individual needs and upcoming assessment deadlines. Free Introductory Session: Your first 30-minute session is completely free. This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your current course and academic goals, identify the areas you are struggling with, and establish how I can best support you going forward.
