About Brown
I am a senior at Rice University double majoring in computer science and statistics, with a strong academic background and a practical, problem-solving approach to learning. My studies and project experience have focused on building a deep understanding of how technical concepts work and how to apply them effectively in real academic and data-driven settings. Through my coursework and collaborative projects, I have developed a clear, structured way of explaining complex ideas in Python, SQL, probability, and data science. I emphasize clarity, logical reasoning, and building intuition so students feel confident applying what they learn on exams and assignments. I approach tutoring with professionalism, patience, and respect for each student’s goals and learning style. I understand that many students feel overwhelmed or unsure when working through technical material, and I aim to create a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and progress feels achievable. My lessons are structured, focused, and designed to build confidence through clear understanding. I approach tutoring the same way I approach learning and explaining technical material in coursework and collaborative projects: by breaking complex ideas into manageable pieces and making sure each step truly makes sense before moving on.
Each session starts by identifying the student’s goals — whether that’s preparing for an exam, understanding a specific concept, or working through an assignment or project. From there, we review the relevant material together, using concrete examples and guided problem-solving to clarify how and why concepts work.
A typical lesson includes:
- A brief goal check-in to set priorities for the session
- Targeted explanation of key concepts with examples
- Hands-on practice, working through problems or code together
- Independent attempts by the student with real-time feedback
- A short wrap-up highlighting key takeaways and next steps
What sets me apart is my ability to connect theory with practical application. As a Rice University computer science and statistics senior, I bring experience working with Python, SQL, and data-driven problem solving, and I focus on explaining material in a clear, logical, and approachable way.
