About Michael
Music has basically been my whole life. I got my start over 15 years ago as a promoter in LA's underground scene — throwing parties, booking talent, living in warehouses and clubs until sunrise. Somewhere in all that I fell in love with the craft itself, and I worked my way from the sidelines into the booth, and eventually into the studio as an audio engineer.
These days I split my time between producing, engineering, and teaching — and honestly, teaching has become the part I look forward to most. There's nothing like watching someone mix their first two tracks together cleanly, or hearing the moment a beat they made finally clicks. That never gets old.
I'm pretty laid back as a person. I'm not going to talk over your head or make you feel dumb for not knowing something — I remember exactly what it felt like to start from zero with nobody to ask. Outside of music I'm usually digging for tracks, messing with new gear and software, or at a show somewhere. This scene gave me everything I have, and passing it on to the next generation is how I give back.

Honestly, the biggest thing is that I come to you. You learn in your own space, on your own equipment, so everything we work on together, you can keep doing on your own the second I walk out the door. No intimidating studio, no gear you've never touched — just you getting comfortable where you'll actually be practicing.
I've been in LA's underground scene for over 15 years now. I started out as a promoter, worked my way into the booth, and eventually became an audio engineer. Somewhere along the way I realized I genuinely love teaching this stuff to other people. I've seen the scene from every side — the party, the stage, the studio — so I'm not just showing you how to mix, I'm showing you how the whole world works and where you might fit in it.
Lessons are pretty relaxed. You show me where you're at, I show you a couple new things, and we put them to work on tracks you actually like. You'll always walk away with something you made — a mix, a loop, a beat — that's yours to keep. I don't do lectures or drown you in jargon. We keep it simple and you hear the progress every single time.
Doesn't matter if you've never touched a deck in your life or you've been producing in your bedroom for years. If you're excited to learn, that's all I need. Bring your favorite track to the first lesson and we'll start from there.

I’ve known Michael for over 20 years, going back to when we were DJing Hollywood clubs, VIP parties, festivals, and events throughout Los Angeles together. Michael is truly one of the elite legends of the LA dance scene and was part of the generation of DJs who helped shape what that scene became. His legendary Hangar parties were absolutely off the hook and are still some of my favorite memories from that era.
Beyond being an incredibly talented DJ, Michael has decades of real-world experience reading crowds, programming music, mixing, performing, and understanding what makes a dance floor come alive. That kind of knowledge simply can’t be learned from a manual or a YouTube video.
Anyone learning from Michael isn’t just learning how to DJ — they’re learning from someone who actually lived the culture, helped build the scene, and knows the craft inside and out. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone serious about learning DJing from one of LA’s originals.
