About Afza
My name is Afza Imtiaz. I am a Software Engineering student at PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, and a national-level competitive debater ----Finalist at the Youth Parlia Summit (NYA UET) and Semi-Finalist at the Twin Cities Q-Fest (QAU) in British Parliamentary format, one of the most demanding debate formats in the world. Every round I compete in is conducted entirely in English, under time pressure, at a high standard. English is not just a subject I teach; it is something I perform in at a competitive level and have experienced it first-hand.
I have been tutoring students from Grade 3 to Grade 9 for the past year across all subjects, with English as my strongest and most requested area. My students have included complete beginners building basic reading confidence and secondary students preparing for board examinations. I adapt to both without changing my standard.
What I bring to every lesson is structure, patience, and honesty. I will tell you exactly where you are, exactly what needs to improve, and exactly how we are going to get there. I do not believe in vague encouragement. I believe in clear feedback, consistent practice, and measurable progress.

TEACHING METHODS AND TECHNIQUES:
My teaching approach is simple, I push my students to practice rather than outdated rote-learning. As a national-level debater, English is not just the language I speak but also something I have experienced. My job is to make the logic clear.
For every lesson there is a different approach;
Reading & Comprehension: I use frameworks e.g., PEEL (point, evidence, explain, link) that help the student answer simple questions in simple words, which leads them to explain every interpretation.
For Writing: Structure always comes first, I teach the goal of every component of the structure, which makes an overwhelming writing task easy to attempt.
For Grammar: Pattern is the priority, rules matter a lot but patterns make it easy for students to learn.
And lastly for Spoken skills: Practice would be in effect from day 1, how to express an opinion clearly, how to respond when they don't immediately know an answer, and how to self-correct without losing confidence; these are the areas that would be in the spotlight for all.
A TYPICAL LESSON PLAN:
The first five to ten minutes are review — I ask questions about what we covered last time. Not to test, but to identify what stuck and what didn't. This tells me where to spend time today.
The main session, roughly thirty to forty minutes, focuses on one skill only. One comprehension technique. One writing structure. One grammar pattern. I have found that covering less ground thoroughly produces better results than covering more ground superficially. We work through examples together, then the student attempts one independently while I observe without interrupting.
The final minutes are feedback and forward planning. I tell the student specifically what they did well, specifically what to improve, and exactly what to practice before the next session.
WHAT SETS ME APART:
I believe any language can be self-taught but the confidence and the dynamic of the language are the factors that make you distinguished. Tone, vocabulary, rhythm from structure, and how to keep the audience engaged are the exact skills that set you apart from others and as a DEBATER myself I can surely help you with that.
I can adapt very quickly, a grade 3 student and a GCSE student both have different learning requirements and I have custom teaching plans for all grades.
Finally, I document every progress and every few weeks a student can have that report on where they exactly stand in terms of their learning journey.
WHO THE LESSONS ARE FOR:
My lessons are suitable for students at all levels:
Primary students (Grades 1 to 5) working on foundational reading, writing, basic grammar, and building confidence in spoken English.
Middle school students (Grades 6 to 8) developing essay writing, comprehension skills, vocabulary range, and structured expression.
Secondary students (Grades 9 and 10, GCSE, O-Level, Matriculation) preparing for exams with a focus on comprehension technique, analytical writing, and timed practice under exam conditions.
Students who are not in school but want to improve their everyday English fluency, professional writing, or spoken confidence are also welcome.
