About Christie
Teaching 283 students has provided me with a wide perspective on what makes a song truly resonate with an audience. I spent 5 years writing and recording music, which allows me to offer practical advice to adult learners and independent artists.
My process focuses on turning raw inspiration into a structured piece of work. Melodic phrasing and rhyme schemes are the building blocks of every memorable chorus I help my students construct.
I guide intermediate producers and students through the complexities of theme development and genre conventions. You will learn to identify exactly what makes a song memorable by examining its core components.
Co-writing and collaboration are essential skills that I emphasize during our sessions to expand your creative reach. Concept development acts as the foundation for everything we write together. I believe in keeping the process straightforward and manageable for every writer. Making music is a habit for me.

I treat every song as a unique puzzle. My method is to meet you exactly where your current skills are. Having a BA in Music from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music means I understand both the theory and the craft behind a hit. We start by refining your title and concept before moving into meter and lyrical structure.
Intermediate producers often find that these foundational steps simplify their writing process significantly. I ensure that your melodic choices align perfectly with your chosen genre conventions, whether that is pop, country, or folk.
Studying the balance between motif and theme helps you maintain a consistent vision across an entire album or EP. We examine how to make each section of your song serve the overall message effectively. You will gain a deeper understanding of how to structure your lyrics for maximum impact. There is always more to learn.
