About Lana
Hi! I’m Lana, a sophomore at Cornell University majoring in Biological Sciences on the pre-med track. As a former high school valedictorian with strong foundations in math, science, and writing, I understand the pressures students face and how to navigate them with clarity and purpose. I’ve tutored peers, mentored younger students, and guided friends through standardized test prep and college applications, and I genuinely enjoy helping others feel more confident in their learning. I believe in creating a space where students feel supported, motivated, and empowered to ask questions and grow. Whether you're preparing for the SAT, tackling tough math topics, or polishing your college essays, I bring patience, structure, and real-life insight to every session. I'm committed to helping you build the skills and confidence to reach your goals and enjoy the process along the way :)

As a tutor, I aim to create a supportive, goal-oriented learning space where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging with the material. I focus on building conceptual understanding first, then reinforce it through targeted practice and problem-solving strategies tailored to each student’s needs. A typical lesson starts with a quick review of previous material, followed by breaking down new topics in a clear, step-by-step way. I incorporate examples, guided practice, and time for the student to try problems independently with feedback throughout. I always end with a quick recap and a study suggestion or takeaway tip. What sets me apart is that I’ve recently gone through the same academic challenges, from APs to college applications, so I teach with both empathy and structure. I know how overwhelming school and prep can be, and I help students tackle it with confidence, organization, and long-term growth in mind. My lessons are best suited for middle and high school students preparing for Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, SAT/ACT Math, and college admissions (especially essay coaching). I welcome all levels, from students struggling to keep up to those aiming for top scores and competitive schools.
