About Roxana
I am a UK-qualified Maths tutor (PGCE, QTS) specialising in 11+ Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning preparation for private and independent school entrance exams. I support children who find Maths challenging by building confidence, clarity, and strong problem-solving foundations through calm, structured teaching.
With over 15 years of tutoring experience and more than 7,000 hours taught, I have worked with a wide range of learners, including students who feel anxious about Maths or struggle to access traditional teaching methods. My approach is patient, reassuring, and highly individualised, ensuring each child feels understood and supported.
I begin every new student relationship with a diagnostic assessment in Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning. This allows me to identify specific skill gaps, processing difficulties, and learning patterns, and to design a clear, realistic preparation plan tailored to the requirements of selective independent school entrance exams.
My teaching focuses not only on exam content, but also on exam technique, time management, and confidence under pressure. I use visual strategies, structured practice, and multi-sensory methods to help students recognise patterns, approach unfamiliar questions calmly, and apply their knowledge accurately.
I have extensive experience supporting pupils with dyslexia and dyscalculia, adapting explanations and materials so that Maths becomes accessible rather than overwhelming. Many of the students I work with show significant improvements in both performance and confidence within the first few months of preparation.
Parents often tell me that their child becomes more confident, organised, and positive about Maths as lessons progress. My goal is for each student to approach their 11+ exam feeling prepared, calm, and capable, rather than rushed or pressured.
I work best with families who value steady progress, consistency, and long-term understanding over quick fixes or last-minute cramming.

About the Lesson
Each student begins with a 30-minute diagnostic session to assess Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning skills, identify learning gaps, and understand how the child approaches problem-solving. This session helps ensure the preparation plan is realistic, targeted, and suited to the requirements of private and independent school entrance exams.
Lessons are structured, calm, and tailored to the individual child. I focus on building secure foundations in Maths, developing strong pattern recognition for Non-Verbal Reasoning, and gradually improving exam technique, accuracy, and confidence.
Teaching methods include:
clear, step-by-step explanations
visual and multi-sensory strategies
guided practice using exam-style questions
support with time management and exam confidence
Homework is purposeful and manageable, reinforcing key skills without overwhelming the student. Progress is reviewed regularly and the learning plan is adjusted as needed to ensure steady, confident improvement.
My aim is to help students approach the 11+ exam feeling prepared, calm, and capable, with a clear understanding of how to tackle both Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning questions independently.
