About Ann

My teaching method focuses on building confidence, strengthening foundational skills, and creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I use step-by-step instruction, guided practice, repetition, and positive encouragement to help students master skills at their own pace. I also adapt lessons to fit each student’s individual learning style and academic needs.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previously learned skills, followed by direct instruction and guided practice on a new concept. Students then work through problems or reading activities with support and feedback, ending with independent practice and a brief review to reinforce learning and celebrate progress.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience, classroom experience across multiple grade levels, and my ability to connect with students who may struggle academically or lack confidence. Because math was challenging for me growing up, I understand how frustrating learning can feel for some students, and I work hard to make lessons encouraging, manageable, and engaging.
My lessons are designed for students in grades 2–6, including students needing support in early literacy, reading comprehension, foundational math, and 5th–6th grade math skills. I also have experience working with ESL learners and students with different learning styles and abilities.
