About Maitê
Hi! I’m Maitê, a theater artist and educator with a degree in Theater from the Federal University of Uberlândia in Brazil. I am currently beginning my Master’s degree in Theater at Ottawa, where I am continuing to deepen my research and practice in the performing arts.
My background combines theater, dance, movement and teaching, and I love creating spaces where students can feel comfortable exploring their creativity and developing their confidence.
I have experience teaching children and teenagers in both theater and dance, as well as working as a performer and choreographer. My training in theater education has taught me that every student has their own way of learning, so I adapt my lessons to their interests, experience and goals.
Whether you are completely new to theater or already have some experience, my goal is to make each lesson practical, engaging and meaningful. We can work on acting, improvisation, movement, voice, character creation, stage presence, text interpretation or audition preparation.
I believe performing arts are not only about becoming a better performer—they can also help us become more confident, expressive and connected to ourselves and others. I would love to help you discover and develop that through theater and movement!

My teaching approach combines theater, dance, movement and creative exploration to help students develop confidence, expressiveness and a stronger connection with their bodies and voices.
I have a university degree in Theater, with training in both performance and theater education, as well as experience teaching children and teenagers. My methodology is highly practical: instead of focusing only on theory, I encourage students to learn through exercises, improvisation, movement, games and scene work. I adapt the exercises to each student's level, goals and personality.
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up for the body and voice, followed by exercises focused on the student's specific goals. Depending on the lesson, we may work on improvisation, acting techniques, movement, voice, stage presence, character development, text interpretation or preparation for a performance or audition. We finish by reflecting on the work and identifying what the student can continue practicing independently.
My experience with theater, dance and teaching allows me to approach performance as something connected: body, voice, imagination, emotion and space all work together. I also believe that a good teacher should adapt their methodology rather than expecting every student to learn in exactly the same way.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate students and anyone interested in developing their performance skills. I particularly welcome children and teenagers, university students, aspiring performers, and adults who want to explore theater, movement or stage confidence in a supportive and creative environment.
