About Jack

Hi! I'm a third-year Computer Science student at the University of Canterbury with a passion for programming, technology, and problem-solving.

Throughout my studies, I've gained experience with a range of programming languages, including Python, Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript. I've also worked on practical software development projects, including web applications, mobile applications, and database systems.

I know from personal experience that learning to program can be challenging, especially when you're first starting out. I enjoy breaking down complicated concepts into simpler explanations and helping others understand not just how something works, but why it works.

I want to help students develop confidence in their programming abilities, improve their problem-solving skills, and become more independent learners.

I am a third-year Computer Science student at the University of Canterbury, offering personalized tutoring in Computer Science and Programming.

My lessons focus on helping students develop a strong understanding of programming concepts rather than simply memorizing code. I break down complex topics into manageable steps, using practical examples, hands-on coding exercises, and problem-solving activities to make learning easier and more engaging.

Each lesson is tailored to the student's experience, learning style, and goals. Whether you're completely new to programming, struggling with a particular concept, preparing for an assessment, or wanting to improve your coding skills, I can adapt my teaching to suit your needs.

I offer tutoring for NCEA Digital Technologies students, beginners learning to code, and first-year university Computer Science students. Lessons can cover Python, Java, programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, and debugging techniques.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are available online. My goal is to provide a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their problem-solving skills, and building confidence in their programming abilities.
