About Shuni
The idea for this training came from my experience as both an online teacher and an online learner. As a participant in various online classes and training programs, I have often seen how technology can either support or hinder the learning experience. Some instructors are able to make their lessons flow smoothly, while others struggle to make full use of the tools already available to them.
These experiences encouraged me to explore ways to make online learning more seamless and interactive. Whenever I encountered an awkward transition, a technical interruption, or a presentation that did not run smoothly, I would ask myself: "What could have been done differently?"
My journey with online teaching began during the pandemic, when I started teaching Japanese, English, and Indonesian online. Although I have always enjoyed exploring digital tools, creating effective online lessons did not happen overnight. I spent countless hours in front of my computer, moving from slide to slide, testing animations, and turning audio on and off. While my hands operated the keyboard and mouse, I would speak as if real students were sitting in front of me.
At one point, I even maintained two accounts for Zoom, Teams, and Kahoot!—one as the teacher and one as the student. One screen was my laptop, and the other was my phone. This allowed me to experience online lessons from both perspectives and better understand how different teaching decisions affect the learner's experience.
Through this training, I would like to share the practical knowledge I have gained from years of online teaching. My goal is not to teach every software feature in technical detail, but to help teachers and tutors create learning experiences that are smoother, more professional, and more comfortable for their students.
