About Marcus
Hi, my name is Marcus, and I’m originally from Hong Kong. I am fluent in three languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, which allows me to communicate effectively with a wide range of students. I am currently studying Civil Engineering at UTS and achieved an ATAR of 89 in my final year of high school. My elective subjects included Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering Studies, and I have a particular passion for Math and Chemistry. During my time in high school, I gained a deep understanding of advanced mathematical concepts and enjoyed problem-solving in both mathematics and science. With one year of tutoring experience in Hong Kong, I have successfully worked with students to improve their understanding, boost their confidence, and achieve higher grades. I am excited to bring my knowledge and passion for Math to students here, and I’m committed to helping them reach their full potential in the subject.

As a tutor, I focus on tailoring my approach to each student’s individual learning needs. My teaching methodology involves breaking down complex concepts into simpler, manageable steps, ensuring the student gains a solid understanding before moving forward. I employ interactive and practical examples to make learning engaging and relatable. Typically, my sessions last 1-2 hours, allowing sufficient time to cover topics thoroughly and answer any questions.
I have one year of tutoring experience with a Year 6 student, and my lessons are open to students from Year 1 to Year 12. I emphasize patience, adaptability, and providing students with strategies to tackle problems independently, aiming to foster both academic growth and confidence.
