About Abby
I am experienced in tutoring students in nearly all middle school and high school language arts and literature courses. I am extremely passionate about the subject and that reflects in the way that I teach the material to others! I took AP literature in high school with no prior advanced literature courses but I truly immersed myself in the course material and learned the requirements of a well written essay and ultimately made a 5 on the exam.
Areas such as essay composition and mid century poetry analysis are no doubt challenging and I break down the material into more easily comprehensible concepts that always inspired students to enjoy literature rather than gain unneeded stress from it. As well as gain knowledge that will stick with them throughout proceeding educational journeys!

My teaching method consists of evaluating my students strengths and weaknesses, and by doing so being able to create a personalized educational plan. Typically that plan is laying down the objective and creating a routine to effectively learn the material of a novel, as well as applying it to the prompt of an essay.
My goal is to be the teacher I think would have helped benefit myself, as well as my struggling peers. Therefore, understanding a student’s strength in literature and applying that strength to the sector in which they are not quite as proficient.
My lessons are geared more so toward high school courses such as American Literature, British Literature, and AP Literature. However, I do have experience within beginning language arts courses.
