About Janna
I’ve been teaching art and design for about four years, volunteering and working at various private studios across a range of disciplines. From oil painting to app design, I’ve loved helping students turn their first brush stroke or logo concept into a finished piece. I also spent two years as the lead teacher at a middle school summer camp, where I developed lesson plans, set classroom expectations, and organized fun, creative activities. These experiences have helped me grow as a teacher and taught me how to guide students effectively while adapting my teaching approach to fit each learner’s needs.

Though I primarily teach over Zoom, I take a multimodal approach to teaching that is tailored to what each student needs. Some students like a more gamified approach, some want a step-by-step guide, and some want to take the lead while I offer advice! For digital art, the main focus will begin with how each tool works, and how to create basic shapes and gradients with a more instructional approach. For fine art like painting and drawing, the class is similar, except we learn about different techniques, rather than tools. Then towards the end of class I allow my students to experiment on their own with what they learned, while I offer some guidance. I can teach all ages, though my expertise is for 6-12th grade.
