Hello! I’m Maya, a dedicated tutor with a diverse educational background and a passion for helping students meet their individualized learning goals. My journey includes attending trade school, community college, university, and graduate school, which has equipped me with a broad perspective on education and the unique needs of students at all levels. Along with my academic experiences, I have a strong teaching background, including serving as a Supplemental Instructor for undergraduate business students, working as a substitute teacher, tutoring, conducting research, and even nannying. These experiences have helped me develop the adaptability and communication skills needed to support students in a variety of settings. As a tutor, I understand that each student has a unique way of learning, and I am committed to tailoring my lessons to meet their specific needs. I take an individualized approach, working collaboratively with each student to identify learning gaps and areas where they may not be getting the support they need. Together, we will create a learning plan that focuses on building both understanding and confidence in subjects ranging from math and science to communication arts and social studies. My teaching is grounded in a growth mindset, where I believe that every student can develop their abilities through effort, perseverance, and the right strategies. By encouraging students to embrace challenges and learn from mistakes, I help them shift from a fixed mindset to one focused on improvement and growth. This approach helps students stay motivated and engaged, knowing that hard work leads to progress. In our sessions, I prioritize active learning, ensuring that students actively engage with the material through interactive activities like problem-solving, discussions, and hands-on exercises. This makes learning more dynamic and effective, as students take an active role in their education rather than simply absorbing information.
