About Blake

I am the leader of the legendary power trio Gas Station Mentality. I have been electrifying audiences along the Eastern Seaboard since 2014. My recent album, Cyclical Antiquity (2023), is the byproduct of my teaching methods. I believe in systems for composition as well as for practice. Theory is a powerful tool that I heavily rely on. I have simplified both aspects of music theory (harmony and rhythm) into a system of geometry that is instantly applicable for any student. I currently reside in Montréal teaching guitar, bass, theory and composition to students all over the world. If you're serious about music, I'm the guy you want to have in your corner.

About the lesson

Focusing on the intersection of jazz and rock, I will help you integrate a simple yet powerful system for mastering the guitar in any stylistic context. Music theory can be simplified into fretboard geometry. Once you understand the natural synergy between theory and the fretboard, everything will become possible for you.

In our initial lesson we will establish your goals. We will form a specific plan of action to accomplish these goals. Perhaps it's hybrid/alternate picking you want to focus on. Or maybe you want to unlock your understanding of chord changes. We will form a cohesive system that will facilitate your rapid improvement. It may take up to 3 lessons to fully form this system, however, the system will guide you through the rest of your life.

This is where you go from beginner/intermediate to unshakeable master.

Blake is a real one who teaches where your level is even if (like me) you don't read music sheets.
I've reached skills that I would not thought after several sessions.
He also answers questions to help you between those sessions.
Passionate, communicatiive, cool, great guitarist, it's always a real pleasure to learn from a master that gives you reasons to love guitar playing more and more.
