About Joanne
I scored a 26 on my ACT which included a 30 in English. If you need help with math or English I am the person you need to talk to. My greatest succes story Was when I tutored a student in algebra. He had a low D; he still counted on his fingers and he was not good at his multiplication tables. I drilled him relentlessly on all of his basic math operations. I taught him how to count on the number instead of counting on his fingers. Then I went slowly and patiently over his algebra even coming up with different ways to explain it. The thing about algebra is that you don't try to understand it; all you do is put the correct numbers into the formula the understanding of algebra will come later. One thing you can remember, since it is used all throughout algebra is y=mx+B. Where M is the slope of the line; X is the x coordinate and B is the Y coordinate.

My lessons always start with worksheets of past lessons. Then we get to current content and issues. I like to drill the content into their heads but I give 5 minute game break times about every 15 minutes. The games are always educational and pertain to the current content they are learning.
