About Christine
I was trained as a classical pianist at Beijing Central Conservatory of Music and Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China. Before embarking on educational research as an academic, I have been continuously working as an accompanist, piano teacher, and music director of music studios in Hong Kong, China, Australia, and England. I then completed a Master of Music at the University of UNSW in Australia in 2005, where I became interested in music education research. Since then, I have been a regular presenter at various conferences in Spain, Malaysia, Italy, China, England, and Scotland held by organizations such as the International Society for Music Education, being particularly involved with the ISME Commissions for the Education of the Professional Musician (CEPROM) and Community Music Activity (CMA). Later, I worked as a research associate for the Music Education Research Team at the Royal College of Music in London between 2006 and 2008 before undertaking my MPhil research and Doctoral research at Cambridge University. I completed a PhD in 2015 on the topic titled “The nature of one-to-one instrumental/vocal pedagogy in music conservatoire setting: Two cases from a UK conservatoire”. I am currently an educational consultant for an international school, a piano teacher, and an independent music education researcher for an NGO.

As a piano teacher with nearly 30 years of teaching experience working with students of all ages and abilities, I am known for my dedication and creative teaching methods, and guiding students as they strive and flourish as musicians and pianists. Over the years of interdisciplinary training in classical music training, Dalcroze eurhythmics, music educational research, psychology and counseling, I have taken everything that I have learned over the years from various teaching methods and academic knowledge, and integrated it into a unique approach that is creative, supportive, and transformative. The overall goal during the lessons is to use piano and music as a medium to help students build confidence and a positive sense of self, as well as creating beautiful music and positive teacher-student relationships.

Professional and systematic coaching, and also the lesson is raeally worth. Thank you for guiding, Christine.^^
Christine is an excellent music teacher to my son (who is only 5). She is patient, great with kids and has a passion for driving out the best in them. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field and has various teaching techniques. I highly recommend her!
If you're looking for not just top-notch music education but also a whole-person growth through music, look no further - ask Christine.
Christine received the finest training and education - her classical training in the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing (eminent alumni include Lang Lang and Tan Dun just so you know); and University of Cambridge, UK for her solid research in music education. Her philosophy of learning and teaching, music education and positive psychology combines the best of East and West, which is a result of her years of quality education and experiences of working with world-class experts in the field.
Being an expert requires substantial knowledge and personal aptitudes. It requires both, not either. Christine is composed by BOTH because she is a motivating teacher and can help her students to develop a passion in music as well as a 'musical self' (instead of just 'teach/learn it').
I couldn't recommend Christine more highly, especially following her students' feedback and changes.Christine is a highly professional and experienced piano teacher who always goes above and beyond to ensure her students are getting the best experience when learning piano. She is versatile and flexible and can work with students of all interests and levels both in contemporary and classical styles, and she has a depth of knowledge and training that makes her qualified to teach at a very high standard. She is also an incredibly kind and generous person and is very warmly regarded by her students. In her capacity as a contracted teacher for my piano studio she has time and time again surprised me by her level of dedication to her students development and enjoyment at the piano. She really is a high class teacher.
