About Virginia
I taught high school math at a public high school on Long island for the past 18 years. I have an extensive background in the new common core curriculum. I have taught in regular education classrooms as well as inclusion classes. I have offered and run after school regents review classes for as many as 80 students at once. I have also home schooled students over the years on a one on one basis.

My teaching methods have evilved over the years to accommodate the ever changing demands of the New York mathematics curriculum. The time where the teacher strictly taught and the student listened has become outdated and not practical. I have now become a facilitator to my students guiding them using a cognitive and authentic approach. This alliws my students to have a deeper level of understanding of the core mathematical concepts which they in turn learn through my teaching as well as guided group work to apply correctly to all mathematical topics. I also try yo gear each lesson to each students unique way of learning by utilizing the idea of multiple intelligences. Modern technology has had s great influence in my daily lessons.
