About Paul
I have been teaching for 30 years or so in UK independent school and recently in British curriculum school overseas in Switzerland and Romania. With a colleague 4 years ago we opened a brand new British school in western Romania, which is new the premium British school in the region and is over-subscribed. I have huge experience of the British curriculum and SAT applications & IELTs, the Cambridge exam programme for younger students and now the IB English Lang/lit course. I have a very simple philosophy: intellectual curiosity is the key to everything; we can overcome any issues/challenges be they of a language kind or a literary complexity, if we keep things simple and ask the right questions. However, I also believe 100% in the old fashioned notion of note taking, close reading and re-visiting key concepts to make sure they are confidently secure.

I believe in keeping things simple but making connections: between language skills or literary experiences and the real world. In a lesson of an hour I think we need to reflect on what has gone before, look at new material and then focus on key words or concepts to take forward. My qualifications are a UK degree and 30 years of experience teaching at all age and academic levels and in all contexts. Inspiring students for years but also achieving outstanding public exam results because of my extensive knowledge of the UK exam system as a marker and co-ordinator.
