About Lyra
With over 14 years of experience in teaching piano, I specialize in helping high school and college students unlock their full musical potential. My approach to teaching is rooted in a deep commitment to personalized learning, tailoring each lesson to the unique needs, interests, and learning styles of my students. I believe that every student has their own musical voice, and I aim to nurture that individuality through a combination of classical foundations and contemporary genres such as jazz, pop, R&B, and more. My lessons emphasize both technical proficiency and creative expression, ensuring students develop a well-rounded skill set. I incorporate real-world examples, case studies, and interactive learning methods to keep students engaged and motivated. Whether preparing for exams, exploring their own compositions, or learning their favorite songs, my focus is always on making learning enjoyable and inspiring. With a passion for fostering growth, I work closely with each student to build their confidence, discipline, and love for music. My goal is not just to teach piano but to inspire a lifelong passion for music.

My teaching methodology combines a unique blend of real-life examples, collaboration, flexibility, creativity, and integrity to ensure a holistic learning experience. In my piano lessons, I focus on making music relatable by drawing on real-world examples and case studies from various genres such as classical, jazz, pop, and R&B. This helps students understand the practical applications of music theory, technique, and expression.
Collaboration is key in my approach. I encourage students to share their ideas, ask questions, and participate in musical discussions. This fosters a deeper understanding of the piano and enhances problem-solving skills. I adapt my lessons to each student's learning style, ensuring flexibility in pacing and content, whether they are beginners or at an advanced level.
Creativity is central to my lessons. I aim to inspire students by helping them explore their own musical ideas while incorporating established techniques and theory. Integrity underpins everything I do—honesty and open communication create a positive, supportive environment where students can thrive and grow, not just as pianists but as passionate musicians.
In addition to piano, I offer tutoring in related subjects such as music theory, composition, and music history, applying the same approach to create engaging, personalized learning experiences.
