About Brooke

I teach based on a balanced approach using multiple methods depending on the learning style of the student and the horse. My background is in dressage with hunter, saddle seat and western experience. I specialize in balanced riding and clear communication with your horse. My passion is in fairness to the animal and joy in riding.

I've been riding for nearly 25 years and have been actively learning and working in the horse industry for nearly 20 years. Check out @independentlyequine on Facebook and indeendentlyequine on Instagram!

My passion has always been in teaching. It's my absolutel favorite part of horses. I love watching horses and students grow.

I worked for an FEI level dressage trainer for ten years and continue to ride with her when I can.  I rode on the IHSA dressage team at Illinois State University while earning a BS in agriculture and a teaching certificate. I continue education when I can and audit upper level trainers as much as possible.

I work at the rate of the student. My teaching style is very flexible and I can work just about my student.

I've worked with all types of students from the occasional rider to the serious competitor.

in addition, I also have experience with riders with disabilities. I've worked with students with physical, learning and behavioral disabilities.

Finally, one of my specialties is riders non-neurotypical thought processes as well as trauma and mental health challenges.

I would advise doing a trial lesson. Find an instructor that works with your learning style and be honest.
